Abnormal Promyelocytes: These are large cells of myeloid differentiation having irregular folded /figure of eight shaped nuclei with hypo granular or hyper granular cytoplasm and many cytoplasmic Auer rods. Clinical significance: Presence of increased blasts with atypical promyelocytes in peripheral blood are suspicious for APL (Acute Promyelocytic Leukemia).
