Micro megakaryocytes

categin thumb1

Micro megakaryocytes also known as dwarf megakaryocytes are abnormal small megakaryocytes with high nuclear to cytoplasmic ratio and hypo lobated nuclei. These are small platelet precursor with agranular cytoplasm, hyalinoplasmic Z ones (pseudopods), a rounded, dense nucleus and 1-3 small nucleoli, which is associated with large, atypical platelets. Micro megakaryocytes often indicate abnormal megakaryopoiesis and associated myeloproliferative disorders, such as chronic idiopathic myelofibrosis (agnogenic myeloid metaplasia), a blast crisis of CML. We express our sincere gratitude to Ms. Mamta Yargop for her contribution in this.
