Reactive lymphocytes

categin thumb1

Reactive lymphocytes or variant lymphocytes are lymphocytes that become large because of antigen stimulation. They have prominent dark blue cytoplasm that results from increased protein synthesis and increased mRNA in the cytoplasm. Clinical significance: They are usually associated with viral etiology, but can also be due to immunizations, autoimmune diseases, drug reactions or hormonal diseases like Addison's disease. We express our sincere gratitude to Dr. Gauttam Bhatia for his contribution and support in this.
