Reticulocytes are immature red blood cells that are generated in the bone marrow by enucleation of mature erythroblasts during the process of erythropoiesis(red blood cell formation). It is un underrated parameter which provide valuable information about different type of anemias and is helpful in the screening of other conditions. This article covers basic information about reticulocytes, different technologies used in the interpretation of retic count and clinical significance of reticulocytes.
